Crossbars, Saddles and Pushrods
The Crossbar is the the part of the structure that holds the solar panels and allows the panels to rotate East / West via a stainless screw and push rods. The saddle is coupled to the mainbeam via u-bolts and pivots on two spherical bearings in an aluminium pivot enclosed in the crossbar.
The Cross-bar and Saddle are both Robotically welded in Xirasol's Welding Cells which use ABB Robots and Fronius Inverter Welders. Some welds are cross-stitched and double welded and done to precision.
A Crossbar takes approximately 3.25min to weld with dual ABB Robots on the job and a rotating jig that allows for loading/unloading which the other side is being welded. The Saddle Cell is setup for a 2 person operation where Cell A is loading/unloading while Cell B is welding.
